Legends of Suzuki at the 2010 Isle of Man TT

The Manx Museum needs your help to put together a special exhibition to coincide with the 2010 Isle of Man TT.

The temporary exhibition Legends of Suzuki will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Japanese company’s first TT. It will be hosted by Manx National Heritage in partnership with Suzuki GB at the Manx Museum in Douglas.

Social History Curator Matthew Richardson, who is co-ordinating the exhibition, said:
‘Suzuki machines have been a mainstay of the TT races since 1960 and Manx National Heritage is delighted that Suzuki GB have chosen to join us in marking this historic anniversary.’
‘The exhibition promises to be a feast for anyone interested in motorcycle racing, with historic machinery, leathers and memorabilia marking the highlights of Suzuki’s involvement with the TT races.’
‘Among the Suzuki names which we will feature are Mitsui Itoh, Ernst Degner, Mick Grant, David Jefferies, Adrian Archibald and Bruce Anstey.’

Visitors and fans from across the UK, Europe and further afield will have the chance to see this major exhibition, but right now you have an opportunity to contribute to its success.

Manx National Heritage is seeking memories and memorabilia connected with Suzuki from any of the five decades in which the firm has participated in the TT races.

Anyone who feels they may have something which is relevant and which they might be willing to loan, or who has memories or photographs of Suzuki riders, is invited to contact the Manx Museum by emailing matthew.richardson@gov.im or phoning 01624 648 000.
